HEYY, I'M SHENAL…
a big dog lover, a matcha fanatic, proud husband & adventure lover. I'm an international wedding, lifestyle and elopement photographer based in Vancouver, BC. I photograph in a candid, documentary-style way so you can relax and enjoy the moment. For me, it’s all about the little glances, the laughter and the quiet in-between moments that tell your story exactly as it feels right now.
I was born and raised in Sri Lanka and now call Vancouver home. I’m happiest when I’m around people and their stories. Maybe that’s why weddings and lifestyle sessions feel so meaningful to me, they’re full of culture, family, connection and those small moments we end up remembering most.
I believe the outdoors invites us to be fully ourselves. There’s something about being surrounded by nature that feels calm and grounding. The mountains, the ocean, the trees, the open air. Everything slows down a little, and you can just be present with each other.
My work is driven by that feeling: the calm, the connection, the groundedness, the awe.
I’m here to photograph your day as it unfolds naturally, the unrehearsed breaths, the wind-tangled hair, the laughter echoing across a valley, the tenderness you share when no one else is watching. No stiff posing. No forced moments. Just truth, wrapped in golden light.
My friend and I used to take photos just for fun. I didn’t even have my own camera, but he was kind enough to let me borrow his for all my small, messy, random shots.
They weren’t perfect at all, but I loved it. That’s when I started falling in love with photography without even realizing it.
My first wedding was a long 12 hour day, and I remember feeling nervous but excited. As the day unfolded, I found myself completely drawn into every moment. The quiet getting ready, the emotions during the ceremony, the laughter, the energy. I loved every second of it.
That day stayed with me. One wedding turned into another, and slowly, this became part of my life. From small intimate ceremonies to beautiful celebrations filled with hundreds of loved ones, I was there to witness it all. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of documenting 500+ happy couples and still counting. Each one trusted me with something irreplaceable.
In 2023, I moved to beautiful Canada and started a new chapter with my beautiful wife Dhanushika. Everything was new, but my purpose stayed the same. I carried my camera, my experience, and my love for storytelling with me.
Slowly, I began meeting couples here, documenting new stories, and finding my place again through the people who trusted me.
Today, I’m still doing what I love most. Every wedding still feels emotional to me.
Many of my couples have become friends, and families continue to come back to me. This journey has been full of beautiful moments, and I truly believe God’s blessing is everything to me. I’m grateful every day that I get to continue telling these stories.
